Orbis Metals Chicago, LLC is Hiring a Forklift Operator/Material Handler Near Woodstock, IL

Job Summary

Orbis Metals Chicago is a young but rapidly growing scrap metals recycling company. Orbis operates a global scrap metal exports business with offices worldwide and a full-service scrap metal warehousing location in Woodstock, IL.

We are looking for an individual with experience in forklift operations, loading/unloading trucks and export containers, and scrap metal handling to join our Chicago team to support our warehouse operations for non-ferrous metals, tool steels, and high speed steels.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Operate equipment (forklift, skid steer, etc.) to load and unload scrap metal materials on to and from customer trailers, export containers, truck beds, bins, etc.
  • Inspect contents on incoming deliveries and compare to bills of lading
  • Generate inbound and outbound reports and documentation
  • Process, organize, and sort different grades of scrap metals
  • Operate basic machinery including fork lifts, alligator shears, disc grinder, etc.
  • General duties including physical handling of materials, supplies, etc.
  • Assist with facilities maintenance, cleaning, and organizing
  • Understand scrap metals industry
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Other duties as assigned by manager
  • Communicate and collaborate with both on-site and remote management
  • Timely and effective communication via both email and phone

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of consecutive sit-down forklift operation experience
  • Knowledge to accurately grade materials and sort scrap metals
  • Operate equipment
  • Able to be prompt and reliable when scheduled
  • Ensure safety is a priority
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
