JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Drop-in Center Program Coordinator (PC)

Employment Classification: Full-Time; Hourly; Non-Exempt

Reports to: ORC Supervisor 

Department: Programs

Program Summary: The Orangewood Drop-in Center is for Transitional-Age Youth (TAY) ages 18-24 to access community resources and short-term case management services to support their transition to self-sufficiency.

Position Summary: The Drop-in Center Program Coordinator provides assistance, quality assurance and daily operation instructions to all participants, partners, and staff who visit the Drop-in Center. The PC will be the first point of contact for anyone entering the Center and will be responsible for the flow of traffic and the check-in process for participants. The PC will assist with all logistical activities of the Drop-in Center. 

Requirements

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Manage daily administrative tasks as assigned. 
  • Manage staff reception desk to welcome and assist participants, office visitors and callers with general information.
  • Provide an orientation/in-take of the Drop-in Center for new participants, new staff, volunteers, and others as appropriate.
  • Manage and maintain shared spaces and supplies within the Drop-in Center.
  • Oversee Coordinate and manage procedures for opening and closing the Center. 
  • In partnership with ORC Supervisor, the PC will create a rotation calendar for shared responsibilities among Drop-in Center staff.
  • Manage and keep logs of all office equipment that participants have access to (i.e. printer, laptops, charging equipment); manage check-out process and train and support participants in use of equipment. 
  •  Daily management of participant mail to ensure documents are received, filed, and distributed appropriately.
  • Identify issues and recommend solutions to improve Drop-in Center operations.
  • Maintain ORC basic needs supplies and resource materials (job board, housing list, hygiene items, meals, groceries, school supplies, emergency work clothes, etc.).
  • Establish professional, collaborative relationships with all outside community partners who provide their services on site.
  • Support, promote, coordinate ORC youth activities on monthly calendar and social media. 
  • Complete data entry timely into the Apricot database. 
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • As appropriate, assist other program units and work as a member of interdepartmental teams to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the Drop-in Center.

Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree completed in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is preferred.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with the TAY population is required. 
  • Minimum of 1-year experience with crisis intervention/de-escalation techniques

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrate a moderate understanding of Trauma Informed Care, challenges/barriers with TAY population, resources available within Orange County community. 
  • Ability, desire, and flexibility to work in a high crisis, fast paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task with the capacity to learn quickly and integrate knowledge efficiently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, and Access. Preferred knowledge in data entry.
  • Ability to build internal and external working relationships
  • Exercises sound judgement
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to details. 

Essential Qualities:

  • Understanding of and passion for the Foundation’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Enjoys working directly with youth, volunteers, community partners, etc.
  • Passion for and enjoys working directly with TAY population.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

  • Some evening hours are required; may also need weekend hours coverage.
  • Position may require use of personal vehicle. 
  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending, and lifting up to approximately 50 lbs. (i.e. tables, chairs, food, water, etc.). 
  • Possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance.
  • Pre-employment screenings include a criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, drug test, TB test, and employment verification.
  • Modification to the work schedule may be made based on the needs of the Foundation.
