Position SummaryThe Manager, Technology Engineering responsibilities include the following: formalize internal processes, provide growth and direction to team members, ensure adherence to policies and drive utilization of various applications to ensure the highest level of member service and the most efficient user experience.
Under minimal guidance, this position defines, designs, and implements new system solutions and ongoing improvements; Evaluates and identifies cloud solutions and components that best achieve design and operational requirements; integrates those elements into the larger OCCU technical landscape; Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system; Manages the load configuration of a systems (network, server, storage, etc.) and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of systems; Coordinates system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing and servicing; Approves action requests and specifies purchase requirement; Negotiates and places orders with common carriers/vendors; Demonstrates technical competency, delivering highest levels of availability, performance, and security.
Essential Functions
  • Hands-on manager, leading collaborative efforts within the team to define and allocate workloads for technical solution designs.
  • Responsible for collating and synthesizing status reports and updates on the engineering team’s efforts for management.
  • Contribution to the collaboration, design and configuration of business processes and supporting tools:
  • Internal processes and procedures supporting daily processing
  • Interactions and support of other teams throughout the larger IT organization
  • Documentation of solution architecture, core components and dependencies
  • Narratives surrounding specific details of implementations
  • Ensures that the team adheres to documented processes and procedures.
  • Associate Development:
  • Defines and drives associate development plans
  • Sets simple, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-bound goals for each associate in the team.
  • Evaluates performance of associates through timely and regularly scheduled reviews; recommends promotions, salary adjustments and conducts corrective actions, including terminations, as needed; and effectively handles other associate related issues.
  • Participates in and occasional leading of cross training exercises with colleagues
  • Contributes to the creation of a strategy for establishing and evolving a secure and well-managed enterprise cloud environment (on Azure and AWS).
  • Analyzes complex project requirements and IT requests, independently designs, builds, tests and deploys infrastructure as code releases to support the business objectives.
  • Defines, implements and maintains Azure and AWS services for high availability, scalability, data redundancy, data loss prevention, site recovery and resiliency.
  • Builds Partnership with the Information Security leadership in defining, implementing and maintaining a cloud security architecture that covers data security (at rest and in transit), application security, key management, identity and access management, authentication and authorization along with appropriate monitoring and controls.
  • Participates in agile delivery team and supports continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) and DevOps practices to deliver cloud services per project requirements.
  • Oversees the building, automating and managing CI/CD pipelines and configuration/release management workflows.
  • Must be able to instruct, guide, negotiate, coordinate, analyze and organize.
  • Must complete tasks on time with and without supervision.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others can understand.

  • Oversight of processes for day-to-day management and monitoring of all installed systems and infrastructure
  • Participates in and occasional leads cross-training exercises with colleagues throughout the team

Qualifications/Leveling CriteriaExperience/ Training/ Education:
  • 7 years of experience in Information Technology within a large enterprise with complex business and IT environment.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership position with individual reporting directly.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, securing and optimizing highly scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions on-prem in a virtual environment, and in the public cloud (Azure and AWS).
  • Expert at coordinating and participating in significant and unique issues resolution where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
  • Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Ability to build partnerships with business associates and other IT departments.
  • Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments.
  • Relevant experience in the credit union or similar industries is required having a level of familiarity with the following functional teams:
  • DBA
  • Development
  • Analytics
  • InfoSec
  • Typically requires a minimum of seven years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal regulations as they relate to Information Systems.
  • Knowledge of credit union rules, regulations, and policies preferred.
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing and excellent telephone manner and good presentation skills
  • Ability to speak and hear, to give and receive instructions and information to others in person and over the telephone. Other language skills are helpful.
  • Must have personal computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft programs at an intermediate skill level.
  • Ability to accurately perform mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate reliable records.
  • Requires good memory, knowledge retention skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize projects and duties effectively.
  • Requires excellent follow-through skills, member relations skills, and sound business judgment.

  • Azure or AWS cloud certification preferred.
  • Experience with and Knowledge of the Jack Henry Credit Union suite a plus.
Physical And Environmental Elements
  • Vision sufficient to read instructions, procedures, source documents, reports, files, and information on video display terminals.
  • Manual dexterity to write and operate a variety of office equipment, including a personal computer.
  • Ability to speak and hear, to give and receive instructions and information to others in person and over the telephone. Other language skills are helpful.
  • Body mobility to move to and from different work areas to access materials to perform the essential functions.
  • Ability to bend and stoop to reach files/shelves including the strength to lift and carry materials up to 20 pounds, also to pull and push open file cabinet drawers. Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Position may require working evenings, Saturdays, weekends, and early mornings.
The targeted salary range is $130K to $150K Annual. Final offer will be determined based on experience, education, training/certifications and specialized skills. We perform thorough background checks, credit checks and pre-employment drug screening. EOE
