  • Shift: Days (10hr) – 4 shifts per week
  • Schedule: 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • Pay Range*: $54.58/hr – $85.70/hr

Position Summary

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The RN, Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing patient care and for supervising operational issues of the patient care department during their assigned shift. The RN, Clinical Supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating all operations of the department according to the policies, procedures, standards, and standard work that guide the processes for the assigned department. Responsibilities include the assessment, planning, implementing and evaluation of individuals and processes for the department to ensure consistent high-quality, cost-effective patient care. The RN, Clinical Supervisor has the responsibility to manage material and labor resources as defined in the departmental annual budget. The success of the department is inherent in the incumbent's ability to demonstrate positive, professional communication with patients, families, physicians, departmental and interdepartmental staff to optimize workflow and to facilitate problem identification and resolution. The Clinical Supervisor collaborates with other professional disciplines/unit leaders to ensure the safe and effective delivery of patient-centered care and the achievement of desired patient safety outcomes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job:

  • Utilizes the nursing process, evidence-based practice, policies and procedures and practice standards as a framework for the management of unit operations.
  • Models an interdisciplinary approach and collaborates with healthcare team members to achieve optimal operational efficiency.
  • Promotes the advancement of the profession of nursing (e.g. certification, advancement of education, Nurse Leadership Academy).
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership in the coordination and collaboration of patient-centered care across the healthcare continuum.
  • Creates a supportive, healthy, positive work environment through clinical and administrative leadership and expertise.
  • Fosters employee engagement and leads by example, thus inspiring loyalty.
  • Participates in a shared-governance teams/councils/committees for improvement of unit/system operations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to conduct crucial conversations when coaching employees to foster clinical improvement through effective feedback.
  • Fosters a culture of safety by assessing and applying appropriate interventions and evaluating the effectiveness of those outcomes.
  • Promotes an environment that supports and enhances the Patient and Family Experience.
  • Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications


Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Two years of RN experience required
  • Supervisor and/or nursing leadership experience preferred
  • Outpatient/Ambulatory Infusion Center experience preferred
  • Oncology Chemotherapy/Biotherapy experience highly preferred

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Current California RN License required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required (RN, Supervisors hired before 2013 do not require a degree)
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card required
  • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Card preferred
  • ONS Chemotherapy / Biotherapy provider required or must be obtained within one (1) year of hire
