Position Summary

This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Medical Center. The employee shall support Orange Coast Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job:

  • The registered nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process as well as clinical nursing practice standards and is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for the Infusion Center patient in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Nursing Department.
  • Responsibilities include directing unlicensed employee activity, synthesizing patient information, assessing patients, planning care/interventions, teaching patients/family, implementing treatment plan/MD orders, and evaluating care rendered.
  • The RN must effectively communicate and document data relevant to the care of the patient.
  • The RN utilizes knowledge of patient age, cultural diversity, psycho-social and/or spiritual needs into the patient’s plan of care.
  • The RN contributes to the promotion of quality nursing care through performance improvement processes that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
  • In addition, the RN collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure safe, effective, and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
  • Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications


Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Extensive experience with peripheral and central venous access devices and infusion therapy preferred.
  • Computer, internet, order entry and word processing experience preferred.
  • One (1) year of acute care experience in Oncology nursing or one (1) year of Oncology-related Infusion experience highly preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Current California RN License required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support required.
  • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred.
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy provider required or must be obtained within one (1) year of hire.
  • Current OCN or ONS certification highly preferred.
