We are currently seeking VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS for the Borough of Oradell.

THIS IS A VOLUNTEER POSITION WITH NO COMPENSATION.

APPLICANT MUST HAVE RESIDENCY IN ORADELL, RIVER EDGE, NEW MILFORD, DUMONT, PARAMUS, OR EMERSON. NO EXCEPTIONS.

The successful member will have the desire and compassion to help others and to protect lives, property and the environment.

• Responds to fire alarms and extinguishes fire;
• Performs salvage operations such as throwing salvage covers, sweeping water and removing debris;
• Responds to and renders assistance in emergency cases;
• Cleans and inspects equipment and apparatus after returning from a fire;
• Inspects equipment and apparatus and notifies superior officer of any defects;
• Keeps fire station, equipment and grounds in a clean and orderly condition;
• Participates in training activities and instruction sessions;
• Acquires and retains a thorough knowledge of the Borough, including streets, buildings, water supply, unusual hazards and related items;
• Performs various public information or education tasks;
• Requirements
• Members are required to be residents of Oradell or an adjacent town.
• Must be 18 years or older at time of appointment
• A physical must also be completed by your physician.
• All new members are required to attend a state certified fire training academy to obtain their New Jersey Basic Firefighting Certificate.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $1.00 per year

Expected hours: 1 – 10 per week
