Position Responsibilities:

• Functions as a first or second scrub under the direct supervision of the perioperative RN
• Assisting physicians in surgery by anticipating the need for surgical instruments and supplies
• Responsible for practicing sterile technique
• Takes the lead in the orientation and education of new staff and students, as directed
• Inspecting operating rooms for cleanliness and equipment condition; stocking and maintaining rooms with adequate supplies

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Surgical Technologist Certification is strongly preferred
• One year of prior surgical technician experience is preferred, however, new graduates are welcome
• Knowledge of basic surgical technology principles and protocols is required
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds
