The Role

Optimus Ride software engineers create the software at the heart of our vehicles and systems. Our software needs to process complex dataflows and make decisions with real world consequences. We are looking for engineers who bring deep expertise in enabling vehicles and robots to move through and interact with the world around them.

Our team is focused on a rapid path to market in order to maximize the benefits of self-driving technologies for all. To do this, we need our engineers to be versatile, have leadership qualities, and be enthusiastic about tackling problems across the full range of our systems. Your peers will cumulatively have decades of experience from places like Google X, SpaceX, iRobot, Rethink Robotics, and Draper Laboratories, and have built self-driving vehicles, electric vehicles, manufacturing robots, surgical robots, autonomous drones, and more. You will be creating new technologies through software development that integrates your areas of expertise to enable self-driving systems to be possible today.

Responsibilities

Lead architectural design and implementation of self-driving vehicle interface
Guide and mentor junior engineers on writing safe production code
Hands-on bring-up, debugging, and optimization of production systems
System level root cause analysis and solving of component and vehicle issues
Learn additional skills and technologies as required

Requirements

BS, MS or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
5 years of SW development experience in C/C for automotive industry
Experience with safety critical software (SafeRTOS, Autosar, QNX, etc)
Experience with ARM based microcontrollers
RTOS development experience
Experience with communications protocols such as I2C, UART, SPI, USB, MIPI, CAN, etc
Experience with board bring up and systems debugging
Significant experience with safety-critical applications, preferably in automotive or aerospace space

Preferred qualifications

Experience in automotive, aerospace engineering, or robotics
Experience with STM32 and Infineon microcontrollers
Experience with protocol design, specification, and implementation
Experience with standards such as ISO26262 and DO-178C
Familiarity with automotive ECUs
