JOB DESCRIPTION: Six Sigma Black Belt

REPORTS TO: VP of Quality

SUPERVISES: N/A but will be the team lead on projects that could include peers.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To investigate, analyze and recommend solutions to business issues/opportunities to drive continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma principles.

GOALS: To support the organization to meet or exceed business goals and objectives as established by the company.

AUTHORITY: The Black Belt will be responsible for maintaining project hopper, training teams as needed, ensuring timelines and project goals are defined and met. Incumbent should be able to perform testing as needed, recommend disposition of any materials associated with projects, gather and analyze data and make recommendations to the management team for projects. Incumbent would be expected to cross train with the business functions and be able to understand critical to quality, customer and business requirements.

MAIN TASKS:

• Work with Leadership team to develop list of potential projects.
• Work with Project Sponsors to identify staffing requirements to support each project.
• Lead strategic continuous improvement projects.
• Manage and publish deliverables and status associated with assigned projects.
• Review Organization KPI to monitor for trends and shifts that could lead to new projects.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 6 Sigma Black Belt Certification.
• 5 years of LSS Black Belt experience, with significant experience transactional (business) improvement projects.
• 3 years experience with Value Stream Mapping tools.
• Ability to train project teams in principles of Lean/Six Sigma.
• Ability to set project timelines and lay out plan of actions with timelines. Ability to communicate results and issues through all levels of the organization as well as to vendors and customers. Ability to manage work with limited direction.
• Required: Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required.
• Education preferences: BS in an engineering or Business Degree preferred.
