Optima Office is Hiring a Sr. Accountant - Construction Near San Marcos, CA

Description

Our client is hiring and is need of a Sr. Accountant – Construction for their fast-paced, growing business based in San Marcos, CA. This is a full-time, on-site position. 

The company is a one-stop-shop for their client’s full-service construction needs. They handle the entire construction life-cycle for their clients - from design, planning, project management to the final product. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitoring job cost activities.
  • Reviewing general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
  • Provide accounting and financial reporting support tailored to the construction industry.
  • Prepare and post general ledger journal entries specific to construction projects and expenses.
  • Assist the team with the month-end closing process, including reconciling construction-related accounts and project costs.
  • Manage cash transactions and postings daily, ensuring accurate tracking of construction-related cash flows.
  • Process and reconcile accounts payable specific to construction vendors and subcontractors, addressing any discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist with the year-end financial closing process, including the compilation of construction-related financial statements.
  • Undertake special projects related to construction accounting and financial analysis as assigned by management.
  • Assisting with financial statement preparation.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations.
  • Reviewing operational and construction budgets and analyzing variances against budget.
  • Assist with managing accounting staff. 

Requirements

 Education, Experience and Qualifications Desired

  • Experience with construction accounting software such as Procore or Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, with a focus on Excel for construction financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of construction/project accounting principles and practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, especially in managing multiple construction projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Tech-savvy, with the ability to adapt to new construction accounting software and tools.
  • Reliable, dependable, and willing to go the extra mile to support construction project financial management.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and experience. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Construction Project Accounting.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
