Optical Cable Corporation is Hiring an Assembler I Near Swannanoa, NC

Basic Function: Terminate fiber optic connections, strip fiber length, polish fiber, and crimp termini. Assemble cable connectors and fiber cable. Read specification assembly drawings and bills of material from a work order.

Performs specific job responsibilities:

• Recognize cosmetic and functional discrepancies on component and cable assemblies.

• Assemble cable connectors and fiber cable according to work instructions.

Minimum Qualifications Required

High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) is required.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge: Demonstrate manual dexterity, use small hand tools, screwdrivers, and allen wrenches. Must have eye and hand coordination for detailed ability to recognize mechanical fit problems. Ability to read, understand and communicate work instructions and process procedures. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Ability to organize, complete tasks and manage time. Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems. Knowledge of fiber optic assembly processes, handling of fiber cable and epoxy bonding a plus. Experience with ISO9001 or AS9100 requirements a plus.

Working Conditions: While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and must be reasonably ambulatory. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. This job requires vision sufficient for completing quality work, reading comprehension and computer use. This work also requires hearing sufficient for normal workplace conversation and training. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions. Specific vison abilities required by this job include color vision.
