Seeking a diligent, self-motivating, and personable Authorization Specialist/Surgery Coordinator who is willing to learn and grow with the practice.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Obtaining referrals and authorizations on a daily basis
• Verifying insurance eligibility for patients
• Responding to inquiries from insurance companies and patients
• Submitting prior authorizations for patient medications
• Coordinating surgeries, including communications with surgical center and outside providers
• Ensuring all lab work and pre-op testing are scheduled and completed
• Communicating with patients regarding surgery information and how to prepare for procedure
• Maintaining surgery schedule for physician(s)
• Completing data entry of all patient demographics, guarantor, and insurance information
• Working with billing staff to identify action plans to address billing errors that result from registration and eligibility activities
• Handling fax distribution to include but not limited to: Urgent MD faxes, referrals, medical records and Rx refills

Qualifications and skills:

• Minimum 1 year experience with obtaining insurance authorizations and/or coordinating surgeries
• Experience with medical insurance, including HMO and PPO plans
• Intermediate knowledge of computer systems, including EHR and general principles of medical record documentation
• Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, physicians, office staff
• Outstanding time management and organization skills
• Empathetic of patient needs and concerns
• Bilingual in Mandarin/Cantonese

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
