Position Summary & Objective

The Material Handler operates as a flexible member of the Supply Chain team, carrying out the required activities to accepted standards of quality and output. This involves a variety of manual handling tasks, stock control and distribution activities, as well as other supply chain and logistical activities.

Essential Functions Performed by the Position

• To maintain and, wherever possible continuously improve upon operational performance and standards of quality, housekeeping and health and safety.

• To understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), approved quality standards and job specification documents.

• To participate in training as and when required to maintain and improve the range of skills and knowledge required to meet the on-going needs of the business.

• To be responsible for the health and safety of people within the area covered by the job holder by ensuring that safe and healthy practices are followed and that all aspects of company, site and legal occupational health and safety requirements are met.

• To gain an understanding of the current Production Schedule in order that materials can be made available for production in the required sequence.

• Be responsible for the checking and verification of documentation and information available in relation to materials.

• To be responsible for all day-to-day waste management, including arranging collections, when required.

• To be responsible for all returnable pallets/drums and arrange collections as required, to keep levels at a minimum.

• To take ownership of the WMS Database spreadsheet and manage supplier serial/MAS lot number traceability.

• To be responsible for unloading, checking, labelling, and booking all materials onto MAS

• To carry out weekly cycle counts on items identified by the Finance Team.

• To manage/maintain kanban’s for consumable items at each cell/workstation daily.

• To carry out daily inspections on forklift trucks and report any damage/faults to supplier.

• To carry out weekly racking inspections, to identify and report any damage.

• To help improve and maintain accurate stocks on MAS, by ensuring all material issues and bin transfers are processed in a timely manner.

• Minimize Operator downtime due to forklift activities by ensuring materials are delivered to cells/workstations in line with production requirements.

Position Qualifications

Education:

• GCSE or equivalent grade C or above in Maths, English and one science subject.

Experience:

• Must have 1-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
