Summary:

The Sr. Investigative Analyst performs online analytical investigations, and specialized technical functions to evaluate, identify, collect, receive, classify, process, log, catalogue, index, preserve, release, destroy, and dispose of digital evidence, physical evidence and identify links to illicit trade and identify High Valued Targets (HVT) through Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Geographic Intelligence (GEOINT), Imagery Intelligence (IMINT), Signal (SIGINT) and performs duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Investigative Services. The Regional Investigative Analyst will be the point person for one or more regions for all online/offline brand enforcement activities, piracy, fraud, credentialing, illegal downloads, intellectual property rights, trademark and patent investigations as it pertains to civil or criminal judiciary processes and under direction of OPSEC’s Investigative Services Evidence Collection and Preservation Policies, and procedures. They will provide direct investigational reporting support within the regions and provide support to OPSEC’s Senior Director of Investigations on safeguarding brands & intellectual property rights violations through online analytical evidentiary standards.

Key Job Roles

  • Assisting in the technical analysis of intelligence data sought on counterfeiting, diversion, piracy, illegal downloads, fraud, intellectual property infringements, credentialing, intellectual property rights violations, trademark and patent cases.
  • Gathering and grouping data digitally, orally or in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Extrapolation of digital forensic evidence throughout multiple mediums.
  • Cross-referencing overlapping intelligence and High Valued Target (HVT) identification.
  • Typing and recording investigative reports and statistical data.
  • Operation of computer systems to acquire information through Lexis Nexis, data analysis systems, open sources, social media, online marketplaces, marketplace apps, management systems, online shopping platforms, and geographic search tools.
  • Compilation of all records and data for investigative case development.
  • Problem profiling, that is, building up a picture of crime clusters in each location.
  • Online target profiling, that is, monitoring the behavior of suspicious individuals or groups in a discreet manner.
  • Online anonymous purchases, access to online groups, and dark web cyber analysis.
  • Crime mapping, geographic hot spot identification, forecasting, and reporting capabilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent analytical case management skills with ability to influence and get buy-in from law enforcement, prosecutors, investigators, management and ability to work with individuals in diverse geographical and cultural settings.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, problem-solving and systems thinking skills with capacity to endure comprehensive criminal and civil cases.
  • Previous or active certification in the operation and analysis of the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), operational systems, reporting and operational security practices of handling sensitive documentation, evidence or judicial orders.
  • Strong computer, data, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to operate under non-disclosures, security practices and operational security practices to ensure the validity and confidentiality of case sensitive information.
  • Strong investigative mindset with ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • Proactive, resourceful and results-oriented
  • Ethical conduct in accordance with recognized professional and organizational codes of ethics
  • Special Requirements – Because of the confidential, sensitive nature of information, all previous criminal or civil analysis, investigative report writing, and proven court testimony experience must be supported.
