Residential Gas Meter Tech-Utility Technician
(Full-Time/Regular) 4-Ten hour day work weeks

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Employees in the Gas Meter Tech position represent Louisville’s local Gas & Electric
Utility to complete pre-scheduled maintenance or replacement of gas meters at customer’s homes or businesses.

There is a thorough on-the-job training program in place. Majority of the duties of this position are done by appointment, employees in this department do not do cutoffs related to non-payment.

After thorough, on the job, paid training, responsibilities may include:

• Exchanging residential gas meters and regulators.
• Repairing gas meter loop/manifold.
• Reading gas meters accurately in connection with work performed.
• Safely lighting household appliances.
• Remaining knowledgeable of and follow all safety rules, procedures and practices.
• Troubleshooting, investigating and resolving standard problems.

HIRING CRITERIA:

• Possess basic computer skills.
• Previous experience in plumbing, heating & air, mechanical, or gas is a plus, but specific training is provided for this position.
• Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job including, but not limited to: walking, bending, climbing, sitting, lifting up to 25 pounds, stretching, kneeling.
• Must be able to work in an environments where there may be exposure to dampness, dirt, heat, noise, and occasional pets.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position will work 4-Ten-hour days each week. Regular schedule will be either
Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday. (During summer months only, will require a rotating Wed-Saturday shift)

OTHER:

Starting rate is $18/hour, increases are awarded after continuous employment and annually. In addition to our competitive benefit package, work boots and all required
