Opportunity Center Inc. is Hiring a Vocational Evaluator Near Anniston, AL

The Opportunity Center- Easterseals is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and self motivated indivual to join our rehab team with impacting students/adults with special needs and/or disabilities by conducting vocational evaluations. 

SUMMARY OF PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Contractor will agree to provide Vocational Evaluation services for the Opportunity Center-Easterseals, located at 6300 McClellan Blvd Anniston, AL, 36206. Services will be from September to June following the school term. Under the supervision of the Program Services Director, the Vocational Evaluator will communicate with school level personnel to plan day/time for special education students’ referrals for vocational evaluation. The Vocational Evaluator will administer vocational evaluations to referred high school special education Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Review and discuss referrals from the Opportunity Center & Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services.
  2. Scheduling and initiating services for all referrals for evaluations/assessments without delay.
  3. Complete an evaluation report on each student-consists of evaluation results, assets, liabilities, summary/recommendations, and job possibilities. Results will be scored for each student.
  4. Recording and collecting information gathered in the evaluation/assessment process and preparing assessment reports on referrals for evaluation. Each report should be printed and delivered to the Opportunity Center-Easterseals.
  5. Report weekly to the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor at the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services with an update of assessed student reports.
  6. Pro-Ed RFVII-3 Career Interest Inventories ONLY will be emailed to the VR Counselor.
  7. Participation with In-Service Training Programs for continuing education and job efficiency.
  8. An invoice will be provided to the Opportunity Center-Easterseals for payment of services.
  9. All reports should be submitted on company letterhead.
  10. Other duties as assigned by the Program Services Director.

ANCILLARY FUNCTIONS

  1. Report regularly to supervisor on program participant status.
  2. Complete and submit all required reporting forms, including hours worked, in a timely manner.
  3. Participates in staffing with referral counselor or other professional providing services.
  4. Adhere to agency policies. Using published and appropriate assessment tools as needed based on type of assessment and any specific referral questions.
  5. Recognizes and acts on the legal responsibilities concerning the safety and welfare of program participants.
  6. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Program Services Director for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the agency.

Demonstrates daily work assignment responsibilities is accountable for all hours assigned, is punctual and regular in attendance and attends appropriate training activities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Depends wholly on the setting in which schools of programs vocational evaluations participant is to take place. Each site may have a variety of factors that should be acknowledged, including variable noise and dust levels, varying temperatures, lighting and ground surfaces.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Depends on vocational evaluation site and skill being trained: standing, sitting, bending, stooping, lifting, grasping, and stretching. Visual skills. Vehicle travel and driving. Fine motor dexterity.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

Degree in related field preferred, but not required. The minimum educational level for this position is a bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in rehabilitation or psychology.

  1. Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities (or similar experience is strongly preferred).
  2. The ability to maintain First Aid and CPR Certification.
  3. Valid Driver’s license and proof of acceptable levels of automobile insurance
  4. Ability to perform duties in a variety of settings, including professional situations, private homes, area businesses and other sites.
  5. Computer skills, including word processing, excel and database.

  9. Ability to function in a flexible, ever-changing environment
  10. Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  11. Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule is very important. Days and times will be assigned based on program/program participants needs. This may include working some evenings, weekends, or holidays.
