The UI Developer focuses on solutions for packaging machinery automation user interfaces. This individual works on a team of multi-disciplined controls engineers and UI developers staff in a matrix organizational structure with a focus on new product development and commercial product engineering

The UI Developer job description is intended to point out major duties and authorities within the position, but it is not limited to these items.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Create and modify new HMI/SCADA concepts:
    • Develop overall HMI/SCADA screens and functionalities,
    • Develop and maintain scalable, efficient, and reliable software applications using C# and object-oriented programming principles,
    • Work with UX development guide to ensure we meet Delkor’s new strategy for HMI/SCADA layout,
    • Host feedback sessions with internal customers (Test and Service Technicians),
    • Create documentation to share knowledge.
  • Work in an Agile environment.
  • Communicate development delays to team.
  • Create release notes.
  • Provide training for new developments and general screen operations.
  • Review and troubleshoot programs both local and remotely and recommend viable solutions for quick resolution.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Four-year degree in Computer Science or two-year degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with higher level programming like C#, JavaScript, Java, C , Python and/or Swift.
  • Experience with source code control tools like bitbucket and GitHub.
  • Experience with packaging machinery preferred.

Technical Skills and Abilities

  • Able to manage the design of HMI/SCADA development using modern development tools and processes.
  • Able to process and prioritize work.
  • Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including Microsoft Office products.
  • Must exhibit a high level of inquisitiveness, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.

  • Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally, to exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately.
  • Works well with a variety of people and personalities, and with other Delkor departments.
  • Works collaboratively, as a team member, to suggest ideas and resolve issues in a positive manner.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit at a desk or in meetings for extended periods of time that often include extensive time on a computer.
  • Stand and walk for a portion of the day to interact with other employees.
  • See and judge distances and space relationships to successfully complete detailed activities to fine tolerances, including reading engineering schematics, spreadsheets and other documents.
  • Possess arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, bend, hold, reach, carry, push and pull packages, supplies, and the like used by the Engineering Department and to support the production floor.

Work Environment

  • Eighty-five percent (85%) of the work is performed in an office setting, carrying out detail work sitting at a desk and working on the computer, or working at an office table.
  • Fifteen percent (15%) of the work is performed on an assembly floor or at customer sites with exposure to tools, dirt, dust, chemicals, metals and plastics, varying temperatures, construction noises and odors from production processes.
  • The estimated amount of time spent traveling to customer sites is ten percent or less (10% or less).

  • Use general office equipment such as computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, copiers, e-mail, calculator and other such equipment.
