UCT is looking for a talented Technician IV to join us in Scarborough, ME! 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on buildings and facilities.
  • Conduct routine, non-licensed inspections of facilities, including fire equipment and boilers.
  • Coordinate major maintenance and repairs as required for mechanical systems, HVAC systems, boilers, and generators.
  • Ensure fire protection equipment is properly maintained and up to date.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to buildings and facilities, including carpentry and painting.
  • Coordinate licensed inspections as required.
  • Manage the repair and calibration of various types of equipment such as pumps, lines, valves, filters, and metrology instruments to ensure smooth operation in line with regulatory and environmental requirements.
  • Advise the Manager of necessary major repairs or replacements.
  • Ensure the safety and security of buildings, including unobstructed doorways and proper locking procedures when facilities are not in use.
  • Perform clean room maintenance.
  • Provide aid and job training to technicians when needed.
  • Maintain inventory control of equipment, tools, and parts.
  • Perform electrical systems maintenance if certified to do so.
  • Inspect and maintain safety and alarm systems.
  • Regularly quality check equipment to ensure everything is in working order.
  • Conduct peer-to-peer inspections on work performed by other maintenance technicians.
  • Create inspection and repair schedules.
  • Assist in selecting and contracting specialists for larger maintenance-related projects.
  • Advise the purchasing manager during new equipment purchases and material procurement.
  • Be responsible for all wastewater neutralization systems within the facility and conduct required regulatory activities related to wastewater treatment and system maintenance.
  • Be responsible for the UPW and DI Water Systems, including ongoing maintenance such as monthly filter replacement, sanitation, resin, and light bulb replacement.
  • Perform administrative computer tasks as needed (e.g., TrueChem, BigFoot, Limble).
  • Assist EHS with regulatory and environmental legal reporting and permit activities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have chemistry basic knowledge or 3 years of facility maintenance experience
  • Computer skills, CMMS, MS Office, SharePoint.
  • Ability to communicate and direct requirements effectively with equipment manufactures/suppliers.
  • English reading, writing, and verbal communication.
  • A high sense of responsibility, accountability, integrity, and respect for others.
  • A team player with an ability to communicate effectively with many interacting agents and departments within the site.
  • Ability to recognize immediate and potential safety hazards and pursue appropriate actions to resolve and report.
  • Ability to execute and control daily and weekly Preventive and Corrective Maintenance, inspection, and reports.
  • Availability to work in non-routine hours from time to time and in case of emergency.

Educational/Certification Requirement

  • High School diploma and at least 3 years of utilities and facilities maintenance experience.
  • Preferred experience/certification: HAZWOPER Technician, DOT Hazardous Material Management, RCRA.

Work Experience:

  • 3 years of utilities and facilities maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing and, Neutralization Systems and Water Treatment Systems (RO, Ion Exchangers, Diaphragm Systems, UV), of equipment and facilities essential for the position. 
  • Knowledge mechanical, pneumatic hydraulic, and chemical systems.

  • Ability to consistently lift, push, pull 50 gal drums of chemistry.
  • Required to wear all necessary PPE at all appropriate times, including respiratory and hearing protection.
  • Repetitive motion/movement.

 Environmental Exposure:

  • May involve exposure to moderate noise levels from the production environment. Hearing protection is supplied.
  • May involve exposure to hazard chemicals and respiratory exposures from the production and facilities equipment. Respirator requirements for any job with known exposure. Required to be fit tested and medically cleared.
