Medical Receptionist
Primary Responsibilities
·Greets and registers patients in a friendly and service-oriented manner. Verifies all personal information, address, telephone, and method of payment and insurance.
·Obtains signed registration sheets and updates information in computer as needed.
·Obtains proper insurance and patient information and ensures accuracy and completion of necessary documentation.
·Collects and documents accurate copays and fees.
·Professional phone etiquette: Answer calls in a timely fashion, schedules all providers appointments, and when necessary, coordinates ancillary testing and obtain prior authorizations when needed.
·Responds to patient's minor questions and concerns, and refers to supervisor when necessary, in an expedient manner.
·Maintains awareness of patients in waiting room to ensure optimal service experience and curtail any frustrations or communication that could affect the experience of other patients.
·Uses clerical skills (filing, organizing, process incoming mail etc.).
·Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, other family members, and staff.
·Multi- tasked oriented and ability to resolve problems quickly without getting flustered or showing signs of frustration.
·Must be detail-oriented and organized.
·Communicates, cooperates, and consistently functions professionally and harmoniously with coworkers. Assists other clerical staff as needed.
·Demonstrates initiative, personal awareness, professionalism and integrity, and exercises confidentiality in all areas of performance.
·Attends regular staff meetings as requested.
·Follows HIPAA, compliance, privacy, safety, and confidentiality standards at all times.
·Reports to work regularly as scheduled; consistently punctual with respect to working hours and lunch schedules and maintains satisfactory personal attendance in accordance with company guidelines.
Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of the management, formally or informally, verbally or in writing.
