Ophthalmic Physicians Inc. is Hiring a Medical Receptionist Near Mentor, OH

Description

The Medical Receptionist performs a range of duties including but not limited to: fielding incoming calls; scheduling and rescheduling patient(s) – obtaining, validating and updating demographic data as needed; verifying insurance eligibility and coverage; checking patients in and out for their visit; collecting payment(s) at time of service; and reviewing and maintaining medical records for accuracy/completeness.

  • Performs telephone triage, scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and check-in/check-out activities according to departmental standards and protocols - ensuring accuracy and an excellent patient experience.
  • Proactively manages needs of patients and visitors by creating a welcoming and professional environment - greeting and interacting with patients/visitors, resolving issues, and providing service recovery when necessary.
  • Has an understanding of medical and vision insurance and sets appropriate expectations of financial responsibility.
  • Prepares medical records for patient appointments and inserts appropriate forms to record as needed.
  • Effectively collaborates and communicates with office staff (i.e. providers, technicians and other support staff).
  • Verifies and collects all co-pays, deductibles, self-pay fees, out-of-pocket charges and past due balances at check-out.
  • Files records, correspondence, and reports into the appropriate medical record after completion of patient visit - ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Completes all “end of day” tasks for patients such as payment reconciliation including missing ticket charges and the reconciliation of cash drawers and any other payments collected. 
  • Arranges referrals and completes required referral paperwork.
  • Keeps work and waiting areas neat and organized.
  • Follows up on missed appointments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Must be organized and detail oriented, able to multi-task effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have an understanding of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) Systems
  • Minimum of one year experience as a Medical Receptionist
  • Ophthalmology experience preferred
