Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and design programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and
prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors. Conduct inspections
and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment, and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with
government safety regulations and industry standards to protect the employees, customers, and the environment
by developing and implementing EHS policies and procedures for the company.
· Identify potentially hazardous biological, chemical, and physical or ergonomic factors and collect samples for
analysis. Recommend changes to protect workers and educate employees on how to prevent health problems
through the use of safety training programs.
· Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the
company.
· Review accidents and incidents which occur in the area of responsibility and conduct field audits, reporting and
managing the corrective actions and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
· Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health or safety.
· Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
· Implement and direct the proper disposal of hazardous chemicals and materials as per OSHA regulations.
· Identify, assess, and reduce an organization’s environmental risks and financial costs.
· Develop or maintain hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation
surveys, asbestos management plans, pollution reduction, waste management, and environmental health, risk
assessment, along with measuring resource use and employee involvement.
· Provide advice, assist, and audit line management to ensure that effective EHS policies and procedures are
implemented and working.
· Perform and contribute to the Site Training Plans by conducting employee orientations; emergency response
training; and coordination of modular training programs for the operations.
· Maintain and update as needed SOPs for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in the day-to-day
training.
· Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected. Coordinate
with Operations and Supervisors on facility deficiencies and monthly safety inspections.
· Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements; worker training and safety; and complaints received or investigation outcomes. · Assist with maintaining the Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures. Lead the Emergency Response Team and comply with all company policies and procedures. · Accountable for researching and writing permit applications and work with environmental group and be compliant in completing permit reporting requirements. · Travel to site including to corporate and operational offices and plants, and perform any additional duties as required. · Maintain working relationships with Regulatory Agencies and chair or co- chair and lead the Safety Committee for the Operations.
Education and Experience Requirements/Preferences:
· Four years Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental studies or related field. Certified Hazardous Material Manager
(CHMM), or other EHS related certifications preferred but not required.
· 5 to 7 years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required with a strong knowledge of Environmental,
Health and Safety regulations.
· Preferred extensive work-related experience, on-the-job training in a manufacturing environment.
