Open Door Family Medical Center provides health care and wellness programs to individuals and families in need throughout Westchester, Putnam and Ulster Counties.

A pioneer Federally Qualified Health Center, Open Door provides more than 300,000 patient visits annually and serves nearly 60,000 individual patients who might not otherwise have access.

Open Door offers integrated services and a holistic approach to building healthier communities. Primary medical care, dental care, integrated behavioral health care, clinical nutrition, wellness programs, and chronic disease management are the foundation of its clinical programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide information about WIC Program benefits, related services, and enroll eligible participants in the WIC Program.
• Answer phones and greet guests at the front desk of the WIC office.
• Determine program eligibility by assessing participants’ income, categorical, and residential qualifications.
• Assist the nutritionist team by obtaining anthropometry, medical results, and other data required for nutrition assessments.
• Provide participants with referrals to health or community services when necessary.
• Promote outreach for potential eligible families to increase awareness of the WIC Program in the community.
• Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals as defined by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the Open Door Family Medical Centers.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary team conferences and mandated training programs by the State Department of Health, Open Door and the WIC Program.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Some college preferred.
• 1 year customer service experience.
• Bilingual (English / Spanish).
• Ability to learn computer system and function in fast-paced, high public contact setting required.
• Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
• Excellent in administration and follow-through.
• Ability to work in a culturally diverse patient and staff environment.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team-based care environment.
• Highly organized, flexible, and self-directed, able to multi-task.
• Responsive and comfortable working in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent judgment skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
