Food Technologist

Davis, CA | Full-Time

Base salary range: $55,000—$70,000 USD, plus a bonus opportunity, equity in the company and benefits.

Role Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our Product Development team as a Food Technologist. In this role, the Food Technologist will help create new Oobli branded products as well as help characterize and develop applications for Oobli sweet proteins in a wide range of food and beverage applications.

Role & Responsibilities

• Develop new products, food model systems, and benchtop prototypes using sweet proteins.
• Assist in the design and execution of experiments to characterize sweet proteins and optimize their application in food model systems.
• Provide technical ingredient application support for commercial partnerships.
• Collaborate with Downstream Processing, Analytical Sciences and other cross-functional teams on process development/optimization, analytical characterization, sensory evaluation, regulatory approvals, and IP activities.
• Document and share findings through maintenance of scientific notebook, technical reports, oral presentations, and project updates.

Professional Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field
• 1 years of relevant experience in product development
• Understanding of ingredient functionality in product formulations
• Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; outstanding written and verbal communication

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of benchtop experience developing prototypes and formulating novel foods and/or beverages
• Knowledge and understanding of new product development process
• Experience with sensory evaluation procedures
