Onyx Behavioral Health LLC is Hiring a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Near Port Saint Lucie, FL

Onyx BH is currently looking for an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our team!

Onyx Behavioral Health LLC is a mental health treatment center located in Port St Lucie, FL. Onyx is a 33-bed facility licensed by AHCA as a Level 1A Residential Treatment Facility. As a valued member of our team, you’ll play a crucial role in conducting patient assessments, developing tailored treatment plans, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to our patients.

This is a full-time in-person position! The successful candidate will provide medical and psychiatric services for mental health residents 5 days/week with the potential of on-call hours.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master of Science or Doctoral Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
  • Maintains a current, active, and unencumbered Florida license.
  • Psychiatric Certification (PMHNP) required. Dual certification as FNP, a plus.
  • DEA registration
  • Two years of post-master’s clinical experience working with patients suffering from primary mental health disorders under supervision of a Physician.

  • Strong assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to formulate accurate clinical impressions and treatment plans.

Experience:

  • Psychiatric Nursing: 2 years minimum (Required), preferably in an inpatient or residential setting.
  • Primary Mental Health/Psychiatric Setting: 2 years minimum (Preferred)

Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in medication management and prescribing psychotropic medications, with a commitment to safe and ethical practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office365 Suite, preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, knowledge of KIPU EMR is a plus!
  • Commitment to providing patient-centered care with compassion, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
  • No active malpractice investigations
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct patient care services within the scope of their license in collaboration with other members of the facility’s treatment staff, under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director and Executive Director.
  • Supports the policies, rules, and regulations of the facility; and acts in compliance with federal, state, and other regulatory bodies and agencies.
  • Performs comprehensive psychiatric assessments, health and physical examinations, psychiatric consultations, medication management services and other services for patients admitted to the facility as assigned, within timelines stipulated in the facility policy and procedure manual.
  • Assists with the overall medical quality management of the facility, providing guidance for treatment staff members.
  • Prescribe medications and manage patient's medication regimens you prescribe and adjust medication and dosages as deemed clinically appropriate and within standard medical practice.
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Instruct patient regarding prescribed medications and treatment plans.
  • Assure the appropriateness of continuing patient care through application accepted practices.
  • Provide after hours on-call coverage to coordinate any emergency medical or psychiatric need responses for facility patients, as needed.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary staff meetings daily or as required to coordinate and review the delivery of patient care.
  • Assure completion of all documentation, to include progress notes, orders, assessments, and discharge summaries, in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provide on-site services at facility, per terms of established agreement.
  • Educate patients about mental health disorders.
  • Evaluate patient progress in collaboration with supervisor and multi-disciplinary team during the treatment course.
  • Keep patient information (Protected Health Information-PHI) confidential and respects patient's rights to privacy (HIPAA)
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to provide medication management and prescribe medications as needed in accordance with state regulations and clinical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to develop individualized treatment plans and curricula tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of psychiatric best practices, medication protocols, and emerging treatment modalities through ongoing education and professional development.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be available to work full-time.
  • Must be able to clear an AHCA Level 2 background screening.
