Description

Construction Superintendent - PSSS (Gases & Chemicals)

Accountability for the Chemical and Specialty Gases scopes of work and responsibility for providing field management, risk management and safety leadership, and participation in all phases of the project execution phase. Reports directly to the MEP Manager. Main liaison between the GC, client, and project design and operations team. Involved in all construction projects from design and new construction to modifications of existing systems as required. Owns the project schedule and all manpower requirements and organizes, plans, and schedules the work. Reports directly to the Project Manager. Implements the Site Specific Safety and No Impact plans developed by the Project Manager and creates and fosters a clean and Injury Free Environment to existing operations and personnel. Involved in all new construction project planning and modifications of existing infrastructures. Enforces the QAQC plan in the field with the craft workers. Owns the construction effort and participates in the subcontractor pre-qualifications effort. Assists the Project Manager review subcontractor change orders and invoices. Along with the QAQC Project Manager, signs off on room and system turnover from the subcontractors. Participates in owner meetings and leads all project safety and subcontractor field coordination meetings. Works closely with the QAQC Project Manager on implementation of quality plan requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable and ultimately responsible for the subcontractor field execution and safety for the overall project.
  • Owns the project schedule and performance measurements against the key date milestones determined by the Project Manager. Works closely with the Project Engineer to provide weekly updates the project schedule.
  • Provides safety leadership, coaching, and role models quality craftsmanship in all disciplines of building construction. Nurtures an injury free environment, reviews subcontractor job hazard analyses, and leads regular safety job walks.
  • Plans and regularly reviews the project work with the Project Manager.
  • Leads weekly subcontractor foreman and safety meetings and attends all pre-bid conferences with subcontractors.
  • Participates in the subcontractor pre-qualification process with the Project Manager.
  • Participates in design reviews with the Engineer of Record to ensure local requirements are met.
  • Assists with identifying and resolving issues raised by the cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Drives the QAQC plan and supports the QAQC Project Manager throughout the construction process.
  • Executes the commissioning process and ensures all testing requirements are met through the sign off process.
  • Owns the Site Logistics Plan: Interior and exterior organization, layout, and housekeeping of equipment, and material laydown and staging areas. Updates the plan regularly as site conditions change.
  • Prepares detailed look ahead work schedules and keep them updated.
  • Expedites the delivery of materials and equipment for their timely on-site delivery.
  • Coordinates, directs, and monitors the activities of subcontractors and suppliers. Obtains, or sees that the subcontractors obtain, all necessary permits for temporary and construction purposes.
  • Coordinates the works on site with the activities of inspection agencies as necessary.
  • Handles all job labor relations.

Requirements

  • 10 years’ experience as a Project Superintendent in high tech facility building construction.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, able to work in teams and matrix organization.
  • Experienced, committed, and stalwart leader of incident and injury free construction projects.
  • OSHA 30 certified
  • CPR and First Aid certified
  • Knowledge of semiconductor process specific support systems (PSSS – chemical and specialty gas delivery).
  • Experience in construction and commissioning of ISO class cleanrooms, high purity piping and components and support systems for semiconductor manufacturing
