Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Activities Director to join our team. As an Activities Director, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating engaging activities and events for our residents. Your role will contribute to the overall well-being and quality of life of our participants. As an activities coordinator for IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) in Pennsylvania with OneWell, your role is crucial in providing meaningful and engaging activities for individuals with IDD. Your efforts can make a significant difference in enhancing their quality of life and promoting their overall well-being. This guide will provide you with information and ideas to excel in your role as an activities coordinator.

Responsibilities:

1.Assess individual strengths and interests: Get to know each individual's abilities, interests, and preferences through assessments and conversations. This will help you tailor activities to their specific needs and promote active participation.

2. Offer a variety of activities: Plan a wide range of activities that cater to different interests and abilities. Include activities that focus on cognitive, physical, social, and creative aspects to provide a well-rounded experience.

3. Ensure that all needed materials are available prior to each planned activity.

4. Adapt activities as needed: Modify activities to ensure they are accessible and enjoyable for individuals with different levels of ability. Consider using visual aids, simplified instructions, or assistive devices to facilitate participation.

5. Collaborate with other professionals: Work closely with therapists, educators, and healthcare professionals to align activities with individual goals and objectives. Collaborating with others can enhance the effectiveness of the activities and promote holistic development.

6. Incorporate community involvement: Encourage community integration by organizing outings, volunteer opportunities, or visits to local attractions. This helps individuals with IDD develop social skills, build relationships, and experience new environments.

- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, and social needs of our residents

- Plan and organize a variety of recreational activities, such as games, crafts, outings, and exercise programs

- Coordinate special events and celebrations for holidays and birthdays

- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a holistic approach to resident care

- Assess individual resident needs and preferences to tailor activities accordingly

- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress

- Provide support and guidance to activity assistants and volunteers

Experience:

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role in a nursing home or senior care facility

- Strong knowledge of ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) and recreational therapy principles

- Familiarity with intelectual and developmental disablities

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with participants on a personal level

- Experience in event planning is preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
