Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

Responsible for leading Compliance on processes and functions within Credit and Tech/Ops including Customer Solutions and Collections, including, but not limited to, Billing, Payment, and Fraud Disputes, Credit Bureau Reporting, and Credit Bureau Inquiries. This position will also provide compliance support to all functions within the organization in regards to Credit Bureau Reporting. The Compliance Manager is a key risk management role that works closely with business partners and other members of compliance to ensure business processes and initiatives comply with applicable consumer laws and regulations. This role is responsible for delivering quality results, providing compliance guidance to 1st line partners as a subject matter expert, and executing or participating in various risk management activities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work with the business to ensure complete understanding of compliance requirements as they relate to business processes

  • Focus on identifying, analyzing and resolving compliance issues

  • Performs risk coverage activities through risk reviews and assessments to identify opportunities to reduce thematic risks; targeted compliance reviews and continuous monitoring activities

  • Support business partners by providing expert advice and influencing changes to processes, procedures, and controls to mitigate compliance risk

  • Ensure that legal and regulatory requirements are disseminated throughout the organization and are executed by the business consistently and correctly.

  • Lead Compliance Risk Assessment activities, assessing inherent risk and control effectiveness of various Synchrony L3 processes

  • Drive effective identification and management of compliance risks, provide solutions, and assist resolution.

  • Help the business embed effective tools, systems and controls for analyzing and monitoring regulatory risks; be an expert on appropriate controls and documentation of compliance management

  • Analyze and report on key regulatory and litigation developments and their impact on Synchrony; communications results to business partners and senior management

  • Establish effective relationships with all functional areas

  • Ensure significant risks are promptly escalated to the appropriate level

  • Support regulatory examinations and other supervisory activities.

  • Manage team of compliance resources.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of Operations leadership, Compliance or Risk experience in the financial services industry; Or In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 9 years of Operations, Compliance or Risk experience in the financial services industry.

Grade/Level: 13

The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
