Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing the daily operation, maintenance and troubleshooting required on all DC power plants used to provide power to various telecommunications and video equipment, including rectifiers, batteries, microprocessor controllers, power distribution boards, inverters, converters, ring/tone plants, UPS, and associated power alary telemetry systems.
  • Performing preventive maintenance and troubleshoot all standby generators (diesel/turbine) and electrical AC switchgear to provide essential AC power for DC power plants and environmental equipment to support 24x7 Central Office operations.
  • Loading and completing power preventive maintenance routines and trouble tickets.
  • Monitoring and interfacing with power equipment vendors during all phases of power equipment installation, additional and removals to the Verizon network.
  • Transport portable standby AC generators to various Central Office locations.
  • Climbing ladders (and poles in some locations), working aloft, working in manholes, trenches,
  • buildings, tunnels, etc., perceiving differences in wire and cable colors, and moving/lifting 60 lbs. or more.
  • Working evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as determined by the needs of the business or as a result of emergency conditions.

What we’re looking for...
You know telecommunications technology and are anxious to put your knowledge and skills to work on
America’s fastest and most reliable network. You like to be busy and well-organized to stay on top of things.
You know that the whole team needs to work together to win—and you take pride in a job well done.
You’ll need to have:

  • Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Valid CDL Class “B.”
  • Satisfactory work experience in a craft job involving the repair and maintenance of switching equipment.
  • Satisfactory work experience in a skilled or semi-skilled craft job or satisfactory work experience, training and/or schooling in the electrical or electronics field.

Even better if you have:

  • A related Associate Degree or 2 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience as an ASE Diesel Certified Mechanic.
  • An Electrician’s License.
  • Power Certification.
  • NFPA 110/111.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
