Medina Hospital’s 2 SouthMedical-Surgical unit is looking to add a LPN to their multi-disciplinary team of caregivers. This unit specializes in general medicine and isknown for its compassionate, comprehensive, and patient-firstcare, highly skilled nursing team, and engaging work environment. Featuring 25 patient beds, nursing caregivers in this unit are responsible for managing pre-surgical patients and patients needing antibiotic treatment and wound care, performing advanced dressing changes, and assisting with bedside thoracentesis/paracentesis.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will work under the direction of an RN or physician to provide basic bedside care within prescribed limitations for hospital patients of all ages. Your primary duties will include observing patients, reporting abnormal findings or changes in patients’ condition, collecting data for patient assessment, administering medication, and performing routine laboratory tests.

Responsibilities:

  • Collects and documents objective and subjective data and observations about the patient.
  • Contributes observations and health information to the nursing assessment and reports all data to the RN or authorized directing health care provider.
  • Implements the current plan of nursing care at the direction of the RN, or the medication or treatment authorized by the authorized directing health care provider.
  • Documents and verbally communicates the patient’s response to the nursing plan of care or the medication or treatment including observing patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments and performing routine laboratory tests.
  • Contributes to the revision of the nursing plan of care.
  • Provides education and information to patients and family members.
  • Participates in the departmental orientation of new employees in a positive manner, shares knowledge, experiences, and provides guidance when assigned.
  • Maintains professional growth and development within nursing field.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.

Certifications:

  • Current Ohio License as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Basic Life Support(BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA).
  • If in an ED, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department.

Work Experience:

  • One year of patient care experience preferred.
  • (Note: PRNs should be in job code G18004, LPN Hospital PRN, are subject to the work experience requirements in that job code)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination.
  • Involves extensive standing and walking.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
