About You and This Role:

Dow has an opportunity for an Instrument & Electrical Technician located in Freeport, Texas within the PRZ group. 

You will provide specialized technical support and solutions for project teams, operations and maintenance. You will understand and implements Most Effective Technology (MET), work process, tools and industry best practices within their discipline. The Hardware Disciplines within Engineering and Maintenance are comprised of the following disciplines: Buildings, Civil, Electrical, Instrument, Materials, Mechanical, Process Containment Equipment and Piping. Hardware Disciplines support both projects and technical support teams as an Inspector, or Designer for their discipline on projects. You will be required to broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. You may act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures drawings and specifications are clear and meet the needs of the business.
  • Ensures inspection and maintenance records are maintained within electronic system.
  • Ensures, where providing inspections, reviews are completed on time and that drawings and specifications are followed by fabricators, constructors and maintenance contractors.
  • Ensures safety in design.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of two years of instrument & electrical experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of process instrumentation, motors, electrical circuits and electrical distribution is required.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process. 

Preferred Skills

  • An Associate degree in Electrical or Instrumentation OR 3 years of military experience with Instrument or Electrical experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of reciprocating electrical and instrumentation systems is preferred.
  • NCCER Certification is preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Ability to use and read diagnostic tools.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software.

Physical Requirements

  • The following physical demands are required with or without an accommodation:
  • Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Wear and use respirators.
  • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
  • Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
