Key Responsibilities:

The Director, UAX Planning and Strategy is responsible for capability planning, long range planning, schedule coordination and carrier/deployment strategy. This role will actively represent United's interests by engaging with partner leadership teams (CEO, CFO & COO) to ensure we have planned for future schedules. The leader will guide regional network capacity adjustments for corporate and operational planning. Additionally, this position will be expected to drive the strategy and lead a team focused on long range planning and crew planning & forecasting. This position will also interact with internal stakeholders to build out pilot recruiting strategies and work with partners on implementation.
  • Managing close coordination with Network Planning, Finance, Flight Ops, Recruiting and operational teams
  • Responsible for advising and guiding regional network capacity adjustments applying understanding of network economics, and market and competitive objectives
  • Coordinates schedule review with Network Planning, UAX operations and carriers to support operationally robust and profitable schedules
  • Development of long-range capacity plans for each schedule to optimize aircraft assignments and patterns or service
  • Proactive identification and evaluation of initiatives to improve profitability and competitiveness of the domestic network
  • Manages ad-hoc network strategy and planning initiatives from senior leadership. Supports Board of Directors presentations and materials
  • Team and individual talent development and alignment (i.e. team goals, mentoring, career development, etc.)

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Aviation, Finance, Network Planning, Program Management and/or operations field
  • 7 years of airline experience with proven executive leadership interaction, managerial and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience with airline operations and strategic management activities
  • Understanding, quantifying, and solving complex airline operational issues
  • Adept at building relationships required for reliable airline operations
  • Expert knowledge of Domestic Network and Network Planning tools (schedule manager, profit manager, FPS data feeds)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

  • MBA or related area
  • Expertise in Airline network planning and scheduling
  • 3 years management and/or 1 years' experience specific to the position
