Our Learning and Development team has an opportunity for someone to make an impact by contributing on creative projects and leading learning processes within the organization. The Associate - Learning & Development (L&D) is responsible for the creation, coordination, and implementation of learning solutions across the Indianapolis Active Pharmaceutical (API) manufacturing site, including administration of Indianapolis API curricula. This role will partner with the business to ensure curricula adequately reflect job responsibilities and compliance-based activities. The Associate will lead training projects identified as fulfilling the learning capability and competency gaps in the assigned business area/function. Additionally, the Associate coordinates activities required to maintain the overall state of compliance of the learning and development program.

The Associate-L&D monitors process, progress, results, and designs feedback loops into their work against measured goals. The Associate should anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks, connect with learning service suppliers, and integrate new business processes where necessary for success. The Associate provides support to ensure personnel are qualified and capable, which includes personnel fulfilling compliance requirements and continually increasing their contribution to the business.
Some key responsibilities include:L&D Portfolio Management
  • Identify, analyze, and identify solutions regarding learning gaps.
  • Define requirements for personnel qualification; ensure implementation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Create, revise, and implement training and related documents, ensuring all documents are well written and executable.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of existing and planned learning interventions.
  • Evaluate human errors in business units and resolve appropriate human error reduction interventions.
  • Collaborate in Network/Functional initiatives.
  • Partner in the creation and governance of training materials.
  • Create initial project charters with defined scope documents and statements of work.
  • Contribute on project teams; lead assigned projects.
  • Assess and communicate result status to key business partners.
  • Anticipate and resolve project/program issues, calling out as appropriate.
  • Be responsible for the portfolio of projects to ensure the on-time, on-budget creation of results that meet quality standards, follow instructional design principles, are approved by appropriate personnel, and meet the needs of the business.
  • Drive quality standards through review of project documents, design, outputs, final learning content and evaluation data.
  • Stay abreast of the breadth of learning solutions to guide business partners to the most effective learning methods, solutions and outcomes.
  • Benchmark within L&D organizations in other Lilly sites, seeking sharing and replication opportunities.
  • Conduct usability testing as required.
  • Share business metrics and interpretations with management.
Client Management
  • Actively contribute in area/function project and process teams.
  • Analyze the assigned business area, including business goals, job titles and descriptions, key duties, and responsibilities.
  • Oversee client satisfaction of learning program implementation. Share results with management and make recommendations.
  • Surface improvement opportunities within Learning and Development.
  • Advise across the assigned business function to ensure training plans are synced with business plan, strategic direction, and compliance and ethics.
  • Effectively communicate updates for projects and assignments.
Curriculum Architecture and Assignment
  • Identify target audience for specific learning intervention.
  • Create and maintain duty-aligned curricula with business partners and support curricula owners in the business.
  • Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of target audience definitions for courses owned by business area/function in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve curriculum architecture issues.
  • Implement centrally developed process improvements in local area.
Instructor Delivery
  • Ensure internal instructor/facilitator qualification process is implemented.
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or
  • High school diploma and 2 years of experience in a Learning & Development or similar role
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position
Additional Preferences:
  • Experience in technical writing
  • Demonstrated program/project management skills
  • Experience with learning & development and SOP business processes
  • Ability to establish strong business relationships and to navigate complex organizations; ability to effectively partner outside functional area
  • Communicate effectively, resolve disputes, demonstrate judgment and manage complex issues
  • Working knowledge of business area/function
  • Ability and willingness to challenge business partners regarding ways to use learning interventions to most effectively meet business requirements
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment; willingness to mentor others
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals
  • Experience working in a GMP-regulated environment
  • Experience in business area/function as well as knowledge of companion tools used to complete broader business processes (such as CAPA tools/TrackWise, document repositories/Veeva QualityDocs)
  • Experience in supplier oversight
  • Strong organizational skills
  • M.S. degree in Instructional Systems Technology, Performance Technology, Adult Learning, or related experience/education
Other Information:
  • Travel may be required.
  • 8 hour days - Monday - Friday. Work outside of standard hours may be required.
