Day-to-day responsibilities

• Technical Design Review: Analyze and provide constructive feedback for technical designs related to your user stories to ensure that they are scalable and align with existing architecture.
• Implementation: Write and maintain high-quality, fully-tested code that meets both technical specifications and solves for use-case requirements. Ensure that code is optimized for performance, security, and usability, and that it is extensible, reusable, and backward compatible.
• Code Review: Review the code of other engineers, keeping a keen eye out for consistent code quality, maintainability, adherence to coding standards, backward-compatibility, security, and performance.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the team to understand use cases, provide insights, refine requirements, design solutions, and troubleshoot issues.
• Documentation: Author and maintain technical documentation in the form of JSDocs, inline comments, readable variables and function names, and easy-to-follow code.
• Continuous Learning: Learning new skills, best practices, design patterns, and new technologies.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance to both peers and less experienced members of the team to help them grow professionally.

Technical skills

• Proficient in Node.js, Typescript, and React.js
• Strong unit testing experience
• In-depth understanding of large-scale microservice architecture
• Demonstrated experience in debugging using logs and metrics
• Experience with Azure cloud services
• Familiarity with ORMs.
• Strong experience using databases to retrieve data efficiently, especially MySQL and CosmosDB
• A strong understanding of authentication and authorization

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven architecture
• Experience with serverless architecture
• Expertise designing and building highly performant large-scale systems
• Exposure to modern CI/CD

Education, experience, and training

Years of experience are not the be-all here — a bachelor's degree in computer science (or related), training with bootcamps, certifications, and industry experience all contribute to who you are as an engineer. Generally we are looking for a senior engineer capable of strong mentorship and leadership, who is well aware of common engineering pitfalls and willing and able to challenge the team to avoid them.
