Oneida Health is Hiring a RN - Vent Unit Near Oneida, NY

Oneida Health is an independent 101-bed acute care community hospital and a 160-bed extended-care facility (ECF) and short-term rehab facility licensed by the State of New York and operated by Oneida Health Systems, Inc., a New York not-for-profit corporation. The hospital is Joint Commission accredited.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Registered Nurse to care for our residents on our vent unit. The ideal candidate will be a responsible and well-trained professional able to give the best nursing care with little supervision. You will be compassionate and cool-tempered. You will be able to follow health and safety guidelines faithfully and consistently. The goal is to promote resident's well-being by providing high quality nursing care.

Job Responsibilities

  • Exhibits professionalism at all times; accepts and performs job tasks as delegated by Head Nurse or shift supervisor.
  • Understands, observes and enforces all hospital and departmental policies/procedures and medical/legal aspects of patient care delivery.
  • Observes, intervenes, and teaches subordinates regarding work performance as necessary to maintain/or improve quality of care.
  • Promotes and maintains a good relationship with residents, families and staff.
  • Prioritizes assignments to maintain quantity with quality of daily work performance.
  • Evaluates and/or counsels employees within direction of Head Nurse of Shift Supervisor.
  • Reports on-going to Head Nurse and/or Shift Supervisor for continued safe, quality of care to each resident and to resolve or prevent staff problems.
  • Documentation on medical record reflects total assessment of resident written legibly, accurate, and timely.
  • Nursing care plan reflects current information on all residents.
  • Completes all assessment sheets - decubitus, skin, posey, etc.
  • Maintains effective communication with all other departments for well being of residents.
  • Provides daily written and oral assignments/duties to subordinates to increase their performance.
  • Completes Medicare notes and addenda to reflect total picture of resident through understanding and application of federal guidelines.
  • Prepares for and effectively communicates at interdisciplinary care planning meetings.
  • Maintains NCP is current with the Comprehensive care plan.
  • Communicates effectively with the physician to meet all needs of the residents.
  • Admission assessments are written to reflect a complete, accurate summary of the resident.Reports accidents/incidents per OH ECF Policy/Procedure.
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise in assessment evaluation, and implementation of plan of care of all residents and with a change of condition.
  • Reviews orders transcribed by LPN for accuracy.
  • Reviews and changes ongoing shift assignments to maintain quality of care to residents and staff self esteem.
  • Follows proper Policy/Procedure for receiving TO.
  • Makes daily and PRN rounds to assess resident needs; equipment needs, safety compliance, and overall unit appearance; intervene as necessary.
  • Performs review of computerized MD orders for accuracy.
  • Acts as charge nurse of unit assigned directing and supervising the daily activities of his/her subordinates.
  • Evaluate current treatments for effectiveness and implements change as needed.
  • Functions as PRI nurse Assessor recognizing the completed RUG category’s effect on LTC.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all policies/procedures related to infection control; ensures all procedures/treatments are without contamination.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of expected effect, adverse reactions, and proper administration of all unit medications, substitutions and acts accordingly.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of rehab modules (PT, OT, ST) and his/her rule in the rehab team.
  • Assures team members follow each residents nursing care plan in performing those tasks coordinated with PT, OT, ST.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; bachelor's preferred
  • Completion of a course of study approved by the State Education Department as qualifying for Registered Nurse

Experience:

  • Proven team player with all members of the IDT
  • Exceptional work ethic, compassionate and empathetic, possesses high degree of interpersonal communication skills to relate with a variety of individuals

Licensure:

  • Eligibility for a license issued by the State of New York to practice as a Registered Nurse; Possession of the license at the time of appointment.
  • CPR certified

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33.00 - $38.00 per hour
