Description

Job Summary:

The ED Tech plays a vital role in providing direct patient care in the Emergency Department (ED) under the supervision of nursing staff. Responsible for assisting in the assessment, monitoring, and treatment of patients, the ED Tech ensures the delivery of safe and efficient care while maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism. The ideal candidate will possess strong teamwork skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering compassionate patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care tailored to the age and developmental stage of the patient, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor patients closely for changes in their condition, promptly reporting any concerns to nursing staff.
  • Collect essential patient care information, including vital signs, patient history, and chief complaints, accurately documenting findings in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Nursing Team to ensure the timely and effective delivery of patient care interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and organized patient records, ensuring completeness and confidentiality at all times.
  • Uphold cleanliness and infection control standards in patient care areas, contributing to a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, when interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Exhibit a customer service-oriented approach in all patient interactions, demonstrating empathy, respect, and professionalism.
  • Manage supplies and equipment efficiently, ensuring availability and readiness for patient care activities.
  • Remain calm and composed in crisis and emergent situations, following established protocols and procedures to provide timely assistance and support.
  • Utilize computer skills to navigate electronic records management systems and document patient care activities accurately and comprehensively.

Qualifications


Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of healthcare experience preferred, particularly in an emergency department or similar setting.

Licenses and Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Additional certifications such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) preferred.

Professional Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capacity to interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities, including proficiency in managing supplies and maintaining documentation.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in dynamic healthcare environments.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and electronic health records (EHR) for documentation and data entry.
