Caregiver - Evenings - Old Town, Fort Collins, Colorado

• Work one-on-one with one client (50-year-old male with disability)
• Part-Time/Fill-in/PRN
• Approximately 9-10 pm (approximately 4-6 hours/week)
• Starting wages: $18/hour.
• Regular weekend availability is needed.
• Option to cover other shifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES: bathing, dressing, observing, and reporting changes in health; transferring between wheelchair and bed with a lift (not physical lifting); routine care of urinary drainage devices; light housework.

THE CLIENT: 50-year-old professor at CSU (see details at linkedin.com/in/jpeth) seeking to make a positive impact in public health. I injured my spinal cord (C-5) during an adventure race and am paralyzed from the chest down, and I need help from caregivers throughout each day.

JOB LOCATION: Old Town, Fort Collins, a mile north of Colorado State University on the Mason corridor, which has bicycle and pedestrian pathways, and just across the street from the Downtown Transit Center and public transportation—the Max bus rapid transit and other options going to Boulder and Denver.

ABOUT YOU: You are seeking a part-time, evening position. You are responsible and possess the following characteristics: kind, intelligent, caring, empathetic, compassionate, respectful, and willing to learn/help, calm under pressure and in case of emergency, flexible, mature, emotionally stable, self-sufficient, dependable, clean/organized, and goal/detail-oriented, and have a good/positive attitude, good observation and communication skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 18 years old.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• High school education (or equivalent).
• Speak and write in English
• Live in or near Fort Collins and have reliable transportation.
• Can pass a complete drug screen and a background check in accordance with local law/regulations.
• Available for weekends and over holiday/academic breaks

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Some caregiving experience or training in the health/medical field and/or patient care is preferred but not a prerequisite—will be trained/guided.
• Some college education or professional training is preferred but not a prerequisite—will be trained/guided.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Evening shift
