!! URGENT NEED FOR AN LPN AT ONEONTA, NY !!

A facility in Oneonta, NY is looking for a Med Surg LPN with at least 1 year of med surg LPN experience. The position will be in the facility's Observation room. BLS, Core I and II Exams, Specialty Exam- LPN and Specialty Skills Checklist are required. Patients are ones who come in that are anticipated to be discharged within 2 midnights. They are typically alert, oriented, and require minimal to no assistance with their ADLs. Simple joint post ops, chest pain work-up, abdominal pain, etc. Patients are typically of lower acuity. Higher acuity patients are transferred to the med surg unit as quickly as possible. Travel experience preferred. Caregivers cannot be from Otsego county. Caregivers are expected to make up any missed shifts within same pay period or following pay period, with the exception of mandated medical quarantine or at managers discretion. Two or more missed shifts will result in termination. Possibility to float to another facility on occasion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* At least 1 year of recent & relevant experience as an

LPN

*Basic Life Support (BLS)

*Specialty Skills Checklist are required

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.
• Evaluating medical information, as well as providing direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre-and post-surgery patients.
• Preparing, administering and recording prescribed medications.
• Changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs.
• Adjusting specialized medical equipment as needed, as well as interpreting and recording measurements.
• Monitoring patients' vitals and reporting adverse reactions to medications in a timely manner.
• Collaborating on discharge planning with the healthcare team.
• Answering questions and educating patients and their families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care.
• Maintaining and updating patient files, medical charts, and health records.
• Adhering to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols.
