The PACE model is centered on the belief that it is better for the well-being of seniors with chronic care needs and their families to be served in their community whenever possible.
Seniors, their family members, and caregivers face many issues, including transportation to appointments, management of medications, coordination of medical care from different specialists, lack of social interaction, and ability to stay alone at home. On Lok PACE participants receive in home care services and transportation to a On Lok PACE center for primary medical care, social and recreational activities, and other senior care services.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Clinical Services, the Nursing Educator works in conjunction with the Nurse Manager to uphold On Lok as a learning organization. The Nurse Educator continually assesses and meets the educational needs of nursing, home health aide, and geriatric aide staff with regard to the relevant state and national curriculum necessary to meet all competency, certification, and regulatory requirements. The Nursing Educator is responsible for planning, developing and implementing staff education and development programs to be integrated throughout On Lok's directly operated centers and related service departments
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Collaborate with nurse management team and staff to assess, establish and evaluate training needs of Department of Nursing Services. Identify and develop curriculum, (e.g. Home Health Aide) resources and training modules specific to departmental needs and agency wide goals.
  2. Partner with managers to ensure training goals are met (i.e., orientation, in services, competency monitoring).
  3. With managers and supervisors, ensure planning and implementation opportunities including regular nursing staff training.
  4. Deliver all training/educational activities (Some activities may be delegated with approval of Director of Clinical Services.)
  5. Understand and consider different cultural sensitivities and relative experience levels of staff when planning training sessions/modules and anticipates the impact upon implementation. Modify as appropriate.
  6. Oversee tracking of all non-licensed nursing staff training. Provide information to QA to ensure regulatory compliance.
  7. Monitor training budget.
  8. Demonstrate ability to facilitate/lead meetings and workgroups.
  9. Develop and oversee On Lok's train the trainer program.
  10. Develop learning assignments specific to program goals.
  11. Implement appropriate training modules for staff.
  12. Participate in organizational program development committees.
  13. Ensure compliance with PACE, state, local and federal rules, regulations and laws applicable to their operation.
  14. Maintain excellent documentation and communication of progress on all projects.
  15. Stay connected in the learning and development community/network.
  16. Dedicated to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the teaching and assessment of learning for On Lok nurses.
  17. Understand the philosophy of customer service and motivated to satisfying internal and external customers.
  18. Share and cooperate with other On Lok departments to fulfill On Lok's mission.
  19. All other reasonably related jobs as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, abilities):
  1. Graduate of an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  2. Possess a current California Registered Nurse license.
  3. Minimum of three years' experience developing training curriculum, and provided training in a health care setting.
  4. Must resonate with the mission of On Lok and welcome the opportunity to serve and care about making a difference in the daily lives of frail elders.
  5. Possess excellent organizational skills, follow through and curriculum development capability.
  6. Must possess excellent communication skills in writing, speaking, and listening.
  7. The successful candidate must present a professional image, be diplomatic, have excellent listening skills, a positive approach, be a problem solver, a self-starter, results oriented and have a sense of humor.

Your final compensation offer will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and licenses/certifications. The pay range is expressed as an hourly rate regardless of FLSA status. Exempt positions are paid salaried and are not subject to overtime.
