ON CALL is Hiring a LADC/SUD Assessor Near Minneapolis, MN

An LADC Assessor plays a crucial role in the initial stages of addiction treatment by conducting assessments to determine the severity of a client's substance use disorder (SUD) and recommend appropriate treatment options. Here's a breakdown of a typical LADC Assessor job description:

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments using standardized tools and following ASAM criteria (American Society of Addiction Medicine) to evaluate the client's SUD severity, co-occurring mental health conditions, and other relevant factors.
  • Utilize interviewing skills to gather information about the client's substance use history, medical background, and social situation.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine the level of care needed, which could range from outpatient programs to residential treatment.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on the assessment findings, outlining recommended treatment approaches and services.
  • Document assessment results and treatment plans thoroughly and accurately in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, explaining the assessment process, findings, and recommended treatment options.
  • Collaborate with other treatment team members like therapists, case managers, and physicians to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
  • Stay up-to-date on current trends and best practices in SUD assessment and treatment.
  • May participate in intake procedures, educating clients about treatment options and program policies.
  • May conduct follow-up assessments to monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed (depending on the role).

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) certification.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in addiction treatment, with a focus on assessments, is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of SUD and co-occurring disorders.
  • Excellent assessment and interviewing skills.
  • Effective communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to ethical and professional practice.

Additional Considerations:

  • The work environment may involve interacting with clients in various stages of addiction, requiring patience, empathy, and strong de-escalation skills.
  • The ability to handle sensitive information and maintain client confidentiality is essential.
  • Some positions may require travel to different assessment locations.
  • Some employers may prefer experience with specific assessment tools or populations (e.g., adolescents, veterans).

By effectively conducting assessments, LADC Assessors play a vital role in guiding individuals with SUD towards appropriate treatment and ultimately, on the path to recovery.
