As a key contributor to OMRON America’s manufacturing operations, the Sr. Manufacturing Test Engineer is responsible for the development, validation, implementation, and maintenance of the manufacturing control, test and automation systems used in the manufacturing of our highly complex electromechanical products and their embedded systems.

This person will interface with Engineering in coordinating the release of new products, participating in design reviews to define requirements for manufacturability and adaptability to advancements in manufacturing technology focusing on manufacturing innovation through automated, integrated, intelligent technology. Additionally, they will be required to perform analysis and testing on products and their embedded systems to evaluate and validate designs or design changes as they relate to manufacturing test and inspection. These goals will require the Sr. Manufacturing Test Engineer to work closely with the Manufacturing Engineers and Production teams in the design, creation, and training of test tools, fixtures, and instructions. Finally, the Sr. Engineer will report the test results across departments to enhance productivity of the operation, the quality of the products, and to monitor effectiveness of test systems.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement manufacturing control, test and automation systems
• Design and develop automation software that will be used in product testing and quality inspections
• Lead product verification and validation activities
• Perform electronic engineering activities concerned with development, procurement, installation, and calibration of test equipment and testing applications
• Define test process and establish robust, repeatable and reproducible test parameters
• Lead projects to develop test fixtures and tools
• Perform product characterization and define test limits
• Perform automation and test fixture qualification
• Maintain and repair test equipment as required.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering / EET or their technical equivalent
• Experience with control systems including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
• At least Five years of experience developing test applications and test tools used in the assembly of electronics
• Proven experience defining, developing and implementing test strategies for electronic manufacturing
• Documented strong understanding of embedded systems
• Demonstrated experience using electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, frequency generator, DMM)
• Documented experience with C , C#, and Visual Basic, as well as, basic SQL/Database scripting skills
• Proven experience in project management
• Proven experience in performing root cause analysis and then coherently presenting results
• Demonstrated deep understanding of DFT and DFM methods and various software development methods
• Proven ability in reviewing and evaluating engineering changes, drawings, and BOM
• Demonstrated experience with reviewing hardware designs to define test coverage
