Locally here in the Philadelphia area, we operate two manufacturing plants in Trevose and Ivy Land and we have an immediate opening for a Shipping Supervisor 

Shipping Supervisor Job Description

Essential Job Functions

  • Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads.
  • Collaborate with workers and managers to solve work-related problems.
  • Review work throughout the work process and at completion to ensure that is has been performed properly.
  • Develop schedules of in-bound/out-bound carriers and supporting raw material/finished good product flow.
  • Supervise receiving team and ensure goods are being received according to Receiving SOP.
  • Quote small parcel, LTL, and TL shipments and route freight according to customer specifications.
  • Examine freight to determine loading sequences.
  • Ensure specifications of materials loaded or unloaded meet order and specification requirements.
  • Monitor carrier on time performance metrics and performance to standard.
  • Inspect equipment for wear and for conformance to OSHA standards.
  • Manage raw material and finished good cycle count schedules and report variances.
  • Inventory supplies and purchase additional items as needed.
  • Facilitate a 5S environment and organizational philosophy.
  • Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance appraisals.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by senior leadership team.

Core Knowledge and Experience Requirements

  • Administration and Management – Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, situational leadership, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Transportation — Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
  • Production and Processing – Raw materials, production processes, quality systems, cost management systems, and techniques for safe and efficient manufacture of goods.
  • Education and Training – Principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Must have 3 years prior supervisory or managerial experience within a production environment
