Overview

OMNI is thrilled to announce our collaboration with our client in their search for a Director of Nursing. In this role, the selected candidate will assume executive responsibilities for nursing and associated clinical services across various locations in the Johnson County area, encompassing Long-term Care, Sub-Acute Care, and Assisted Living. This position involves steering effective leadership and managerial efforts in risk management, infection control, quality assurance, safety, and compliance programs. The ultimate goal is to yield tangible results in preventing and mitigating potential losses to the organization. Additionally, the Director of Nursing will be instrumental in developing programs and orchestrating the implementation of person-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees nursing and clinical services, ensuring compliance with CMS Quality Indicator standards and state/federal guidelines for long-term, sub-acute care, and assisted living residents.
  • Adheres to safety and infection control regulations, including conducting clinical rounds, observing direct care practices, educating staff on effective nursing care, gathering feedback, and analyzing systems based on trends and best practices.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources to sustain an effective program for recruitment, retention, and recognition of nursing and clinical services staff.
  • Ensures high quality resident and family member satisfaction by attending Resident Council meetings, Care Plan meetings, reviewing satisfaction surveys, and soliciting feedback regarding nursing & clinical services care and customer services.
  • Keeps abreast of industry trends through scholarly literature review, anticipates future service demands, and proactively develops innovative care services to meet resident needs.
  • Conducts interviews, makes hiring decisions, evaluates performance, and orients nursing staff in accordance with established standards to minimize nursing turnover.
  • Reviews/investigates incident reports and implements action plans.
  • Create, implement and educate staff on new standards, regulations, and hospital protocols to ensure best practices.
  • Develop and implement Quality Improvement program to improve overall care and to help manage Quality Indicators. Responsible for Infection Control Program oversight.
  • Responsible for assuring that staffing in the nursing department meets budget, regulations, and resident needs.
  • Maintains cooperative relationship with regulatory officials, medical representatives, organizations and local hospitals by attending trainings, meetings, and serving on committees.
  • Assumes responsibility of Director of Health Services role in absence.
  • Ensures that Residents’ Rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to express grievances are followed.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse in the state of Kansas is required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Infection Preventionist certification preferred.
  • CDON-LTC by LTC Association preferred.
  • Intermediate level experience in Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel.
  • Beginner level experience in industry-related clinical database management software.
  • Experience with automated HIM electronic fully integrated virtual medical record/clinical management system is preferred.
  • Possesses an empathetic approach to the elderly.
  • Able to work in a team setting with residents, relatives, staff, and others.
