Job Title: Animal Care Assistant - Wildlife Safari Park (16406 292nd St, Ashland, NE 68003)

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Hours: Part-time, seasonal

Summary:

Wildlife Safari Park is seeking an Animal Care Assistant to provide daily husbandry and care associated with feeding and cleaning of animal enclosures. Must be willing to work in a fast-paced and highly changing environment. This position reports directly to the department manager of the area that they are assigned to.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• All aspects of animal husbandry including, but not limited to, cleaning, feeding, medicating, assisting with medical procedures, enrichment, display maintenance, and general upkeep of buildings and grounds.

• Observe and report all animal behaviors and other general observations to Supervisor.

• Work with interns, volunteers, and student shadows including tours and talks.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Able to work holidays and weekends.

• Strong communication and organizational skills including attention to detail.

• Knowledge of a safe working environment for animal collection, employees, and visitors.

• Ability to work independently and with a team.

• Animal husbandry knowledge.

• Operant conditioning experience.

• Ability to speak publicly to large and small groups.

All candidates are required to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, provide proof of a negative TB test, and possess a valid drivers license with a good driving history.

Working conditions and physical effort:

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds routinely.

• Highly physical environment.

• Varying temperatures and climates.
