Olympic Pharmacy and Healthcare Services is Hiring a Billing Specialist Near Gig Harbor, WA

Olympic Pharmacy & Healthcare Services, an independent pharmacy and Durable Medical Equipment retail store situated in Gig Harbor, Washington, is dedicated to delivering exceptional pharmaceutical care and specialized services within our community. Currently, we are seeking a committed and experienced Billing Specialist to become an integral part of our dynamic Medical Billing team.

As a Billing Specialist, you’ll report directly to the Billing Manager’s. Your primary focus will be to generate and review medical billing, process claims, and collect receivables. You need to be comfortable processing a high number of claims with accuracy and efficiency daily. In working with our patients and insurance agencies, you must have exceptional communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Electronic Billing (process paper claims, as necessary)

  • Review sales orders & invoices for correct coding, charges, allowable, co-pays and supporting documentation prior to billing.

Accounts Receivable

  • Review and document all correspondence regarding pending/denied claims.
  • Follow-up with payers, patients, and other appropriate parties to collect open billings in a timely manner and to ensure compliance with billing regulations.

Patient Account Management

  • Establish patient records and record appropriate patient information.
  • Additional assigned projects, including audits, batching, and scanning EOBs.
  • Maintain compliances with all government and regulatory agencies.
  • Identify and report payer issues to management.

Required Experience/Knowledge:

  • 2 years’ billing and/or collections experience.
  • 2 years’ working with a billing system (e.g., Brightree).
  • Billing claims to commercial and Medi payors.
  • Reconciliation of claims and resolving denials to achieve maximum reimbursement for services provided.
  • Conduct audits.
  • General knowledge of government, regulatory and company billing and compliance regulations/policies for Medicare, Medicaid, preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in all major insurance carrier reimbursement guidelines and eligibility for coverage by third party payers - preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in insurance verification and authorization processes - preferred.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality practices, such as HIPAA.

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • 2 years junior college (all business courses) – highly preferred.
  • Must pass background check and drug test.
  • Dedicated to accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for diverse interactions (customers, providers, team).
  • Proficiency in relevant software and technology used in medical billing.

Physical Requirements:

  • This role is not open to remote work. Applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance, and preference will be given to those residing locally.
  • Sitting for extended periods working on a computer, reviewing documents, and entering data.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, and handling paperwork, office equipment and supplies.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, and move items up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining precision and accuracy.
