Responsible to: Speech and Language Pathologist Job Summary:The Student-Speech/Language Pathology is an unpaid student placement that a college student is completing to receive academic credit through their college/university. This student is responsible for providing speech/language therapy to children and clients whose ability to function is impaired by congenital or developmental disability, physical illness or injury, as determined through examinations, evaluations, diagnosis, prognosis and interventions for the highest functional outcomes, under the direction of a licensed Speech/Language Pathologist. Essential Job Duties:- Display thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of speech/language pathology.- Adhere to the standards of the clinical practices established by the American Speech- Hearing Association (ASHA).- Responsible for the evaluation of therapy needs. Administer speech/language based standardized assessment tools and use clinical skills to determine therapeutic needs of clients. - Participate in the creation of treatment plans and revision of if necessary.- Conduct speech/language therapy as mandated on the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). - Collaborate with other team members or those individuals designated by the agency (e.g. family members, teachers, therapists, consumers, etc.) to facilitate comprehensive treatment.- Record on client charts all appropriate speech/language therapy evaluations, progress notes, consultations and discharge information. This includes submission of daily notes, quarterly reports and annual reports as requested by the agency. Education: Minimum Degree Requirements:- High school diploma or GED- Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a four year college or university and studying Speech/Language Pathology Communication Disorders Experience: None License/Registration/ Certification: None Training:– Training management packet Physical Requirements:- The constant physical demands of the position are standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, talking , listening , repetitive motions and eye/hand/foot coordination. - The frequent physical demands of the position are sitting and walking.- The occasional physical demands of the position are lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling and grasping.
