We are looking for a part time Speech Therapist to work around 22.5 hours/week. The makeup of these hours may be 3 full days (7.5 hours/day) or 5 partial days (4-5 hours/day). Full Job DescriptionJob Summary:Provide speech/language therapy services to individuals as outlined in their Individual Education Plan or Individual’s Family Service Plan. Services are to be provided in accordance with New York State practice act guidelines for Speech/Language Therapy Services, the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association as well as in accordance with all company, state and federal standards and regulations; as well as within all regulations and requirements set forth by the organizations with which the company collaborates. Essential Job Duties:1. Reviews all available documentation related to the individual prior to beginning treatment; including the IEP/IFSP, script and prior evaluations if available2. Develops an appropriate treatment plan for each individual3. Performs treatments according to IFSP/IEP and accepted professional standards and practices4. Conducts ongoing assessment of individual during each visit, and modifies goals/outcomes/treatment plan accordingly5. Performs appropriate parent/caregiver education and develops home programs as necessary6. Works as part of an inter-disciplinary team, utilizing communication with all team members to enhance the treatment program of the individual7. Maintains an accurate schedule8. Submits all required documentation of visits according to established procedures9. Performs evaluations as assigned and when necessary10. Communicates with families on a regular basis11. Keeps abreast of legal responsibilities, professional ethics, standards of practice and agency rules, policies and regulations.12. Provides for own professional growth by attending continuing education and in-services; tracking this to assure compliance with state licensing requirements 13. Discontinues therapy when child no longer meets eligibility requirements14. Provides own transportation to service locations15. Maintains client confidentiality with HIPPA/FERPA and agency guidelines16. Maintains professional appearance, follows agency dress code17. Attends department meetings and any other meetings required by your supervisor18. Adheres to and signs Annual Employee Agreement19. Documents time off and time worked accurately according to agency policies20. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by their direct supervisor Skills: Basic computer skills Competencies:• Strong written and verbal communication skills• Strong organizational skills• Strong time management skills• Interpersonal skills Qualifications:Education: Minimum Degree Required: Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology/Communication DisordersExperience: Minimum Experience Required: NoneLicense/Registration/ Certification:• Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped Certification in NYS• License in Speech/Language Pathology in NYS• Current NYS Driver’s License Training:• Minimum of 30 hours of Continuing education per licensing period (3 years) as per NYS Office of Profession guidelines• All required agency trainings• All trainings required by programs you service individuals in, including but not limited to, OCFS and Early Intervention Physical Requirements: The frequent physical demands of the position are sitting, standing, walking, climbing, talking, listening, repetitive motions, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling of children and grasping.
