PowerHouse Boiler Operator pay rate up to $37.25/hour (dependent upon experience)

Essential Functions*:

• Assists in Firing Fuel oil or water tube boilers to generate high-pressure steam for heating and processing.
• Diagnosis and repair of mechanical problems, minor electrical, process steam and air.
• Ability to read, comprehend and execute repairs of machine parts and plant equipment using blueprints.
• Perform preventative maintenance requirements of on plant equipment.
• Knowledge and ability to sample and test water for requirements, adding chemicals to maintain chemical balances.
• Monitoring gauges and controls while making necessary adjustments to ensure adequate levels of steam are produced to meet plant requirements.
• Operation of emergency backup power using diesel generators.
• Daily maintenance and adjustment of boilers to maintain proper conductivity.
• Comply with all applicable standards, policies, or procedures, such as safety procedures or the maintenance of a clean work area.
• Understand and interprets complex drawings, schematics, and operational manuals.
• Understand and interpret various testing equipment to diagnose and complete repairs, including process steam and air.

Position Requirements*:

• Must have a valid State Driver's license and be able to obtain a Government Driver's license.
• Minimum of 1 years recent and relevant experience; Operating high pressure power steam boilers with mechanical maintenance.
• Certificate or diploma from an accredited trade school, vocational school, or military equivalent preferred with coursework in mechanical repair.
• Must have basic knowledge of motors and motor controls.
• Working knowledge of millwright, welding and pipefitting duties. Mechanical skills and abilities. Experience in operation of basic shop equipment including handheld power tools; electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatically driven.
• Capable of obtaining permit required for confined space. Must be able to pass through test fixture for confined space entry.
• Must have ability to climb stairs and ladders.
• Working knowledge of blueprints.
• Ability to lift, carry and push 35-40 pounds.
• Specific environmental training will be required for incumbents. Including but not limited to HAZMAT, HAZCOM, Fire protection, Asbestos control, and decontamination of equipment.
• Ability and willingness to work Weekends, including overtime.
• This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
• This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
• This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies.
