Reports to: Controller/CEO
Location: Columbia, SC
Summary Objective: The Project Accountant provides accounting support to major financial accounting areas, including accounts receivable, and account reconciliation as it pertains to project related transactions.

JOB SUMMARY
Duties/Responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Accounting Manager and project managers as required.
• Reviewing budgets, including staffing, work plans, and fee structures.
• Providing project managers and clients with timely financial reports and budgets, as well as data-driven project forecasts.
• Preparing pre-billing drafts and reports for project managers to review.
• Perform actual-to-budget variance analysis for projects to address issues and reconcile.
• Monitoring receivable income and supporting project managers with collections.
• Issuing invoices, as well as paying consultant, subcontractor, vendor, and supplier bills.
• Ensuring a steady cash flow by generating, auditing, and sending invoices in a timely manner.
• Updating contracts according to client requirements and reporting associated budget amendments.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or similar.

Experience/Skills:
• 2-5 years' experience as a project accountant, or similar: project invoicing and billing.
• Proficiency in electronic accounting systems, Deltek:Vision a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in managing general ledgers, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Understanding of standard contract terms and how they are applied in the billing process.
• Ability to prepare project budgets, financial forecasts, and tax reports.
• In-depth knowledge of best practices in accounting, GAAP.
• Demonstrated excellent organizational, planning and communication skills
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work on multiple assignments
• Ability to work both on a team and independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines
