Overview:
Manages all aspects of one or more medium to larger sized projects for a broad range of construction, commercial, oilfield and environmental projects.
Primary Responsibilities:There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.
Education and/or Experience:A heavy equipment operator will be qualified for at least one (1) of the above listed classes and types of equipment but may be qualified for more. A heavy equipment operator should possess a general knowledge of the functional operation, the purpose, the capabilities and limitations of any piece of equipment he or she is qualified to operate. Display a thorough knowledge of the proper manner in which to operate and maintain a specific piece of equipment. Have the ability to read, interpret or use capacity charts, rigging diagrams, common hand signals, grade stakes or other applicable drawings. Demonstrate the safe accessories within the range intended. Read and understand the results and purpose of all gauges on the equipment. Be able to properly maintain and service the piece of equipment daily.
License with CDL Endorsement is required to operate heavy equipment.
A valid current commercial driver's license (CDL - Class A/B) with the appropriate endorsements is required. Endorsements may include hazardous materials, bus, tankers, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment. The employee is frequently exposed to severe outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate to loud. When not performing equipment operating duties, operators will be tasked with performing Maintenance Technician 1 duties (see separate job description).
