POSITION TITLE: Behavioral Health Clinician, Family Therapy 

DEPARTMENT: Behavioral Health 

REPORTS TO: Director of Behavioral Health, Youth and Family

Established in 2023, CommuniCare OLE is the result of a union of two health centers with deep roots in their respective communities and reputations for providing high-quality primary care to all, regardless of insurance or ability to pay: OLE Health of Napa and Solano Counties and CommuniCare Health Centers of Yolo County. Building on a legacy established by both organizations in 1972, CommuniCare OLE is a network of federally qualified health centers with 17 sites across Napa, Solano, and Yolo Counties. It offers comprehensive care, including medical, dental, behavioral health and substance use treatment, nutrition, optometry, pharmacy, care coordination, referrals, and enrollment assistance to more than 70,000 individuals, and no one is turned away due to lack of insurance, immigration status, or ability to pay. Many services are offered outside of its sites, including mobile health, home visiting, and community and school-based programs.

The following statements are intended to describe the major elements and requirements of the position and should not be taken as an all-inclusive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required of individuals assigned to this job.

JOB SUMMARY: The Family Therapist reports directly to the Youth and Family Services Manager and provides assessments, therapeutic treatment, referrals, and recommendations based on the Strengthening Protective Factors for youth and families referred by Child Welfare Services.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  1. ASW/AMFT/APCC or LCSW/LMFT/LPCC required. 
  2. A minimum of two years’ experience working in behavioral health field with young children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and children.
  3. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

SECTION I: PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITY

  1. KNOWLEDGE OF WORK

1.

Assesses safety and protective factors of family receiving services.

2.

Completes all client paperwork and documentation in a timely manner according to clinic guidelines and ethical standards, including reports and treatment updates for Child Welfare about client’s treatment.

B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.

Conducts screening and intake assessments for youth, parents, and families referred by Child Welfare Services.

2.

Makes recommendations and referrals based on assessment to appropriate services based on presenting need and identifying strengths and protective factors in families.

3.

Writes and completes treatment plans and responds to referrals in a timely manner.

4.

Works with clients to establish long- and short-term goals. Clinician is responsible for detecting emotional, psychological, and physical danger signals. Clinician is non-judgmental, strengths-based and offers feedback and support to families.

5.

Provides couples counseling, family therapy, co-parenting, parenting, and other therapeutic family-focused interventions that strengthen protective factors and support CWS reunification plans.

6.

Provides and refers to appropriate evidenced-based practices, such as TFCBT, PCIT, and FFT.

7.

Provides information to clients including treatment alternatives and makes necessary referrals.

8.

Responsible for remaining within the ethical standards established in the field, including HIPAA and 42 CFR, part 2.

9.

Collects data and compiles and reports statistics as required.

10.

If unlicensed, attends clinical supervision. Attends weekly staff meetings. Attend training/conferences as arranged.

11.

Responsible for maintaining the standards as listed in the CommuniCare OLE Policies and Procedures, and any other standards which may apply to this position.

12.

Responsible for collaborating and working effectively with Child Welfare and other community partners.

13.

Engages in program development, special projects, and community outreach.

14.

Other projects as may be assigned.
